One engineer, building the gear he wants to keep making
I'm a young Danish electrical engineer, and JJ Kaaberbøl is a one-person shop — I design, build, and stand behind everything on this site myself.
I did my internship at TC Electronic in Denmark and stayed on afterward, until Music Tribe shut down TC Electronic's Danish operations and moved R&D abroad. I finished my bachelor's degree in electrical engineering around the same time, and started building on my own terms.
JJ Kaaberbøl is what came out of that: small-batch, properly documented audio hardware, built the way I'd want to buy it myself.

CAT5E Input Box
A simple, direct way to bring audio in over standard CAT5E cable. Breaks the cable's four balanced differential pairs out to four female XLR inputs — smaller, simpler, and cheaper than a traditional stage box.

The output-side counterpart to the CAT5E Input Box. Breaks the same four balanced pairs on a CAT5E cable back out to four male XLR outputs for handoff to a console, amp, or other balanced destination.

What I won't compromise on
Buying something means owning it. Everything I sell is fully documented and repairable — no license keys, no cloud lock-in, no bricking your hardware because a subscription lapsed. If you paid for it, it's yours: open it, modify it, fix it.
Not from the US
In early 2026, the US government threatened tariffs against Denmark and wouldn't rule out military force to take Greenland. That's not a supply chain I want my business depending on — so components aren't sourced from the US, no exceptions for now.
Not from mainland China
Forced and underpaid labor remains a well-documented problem in parts of mainland China's electronics manufacturing sector. This isn't a judgment on the people doing the work — it's a policy on where the money goes. I won't put my name on hardware built on it.
This policy may loosen as sourcing options change. It won't get looser on principle.
